How it works
Create a room
Pick a display name and you get a six-digit code. No account, no sign-up, nothing to install.
Share the code
Send the six digits to whoever is playing. They enter it, pick a name, and they are in — up to 20 people in one room.
The host sets the word
As host you choose the secret word yourself, so you can pitch it at the people playing. Everyone else guesses against it.
Watch the board move
Every guess is ranked by meaning and the room's leaderboard updates live — you can see who is closing in without seeing their words.

Why guesses stay private
In a room you can see every player's best rank and guess count, but never the words they typed. That is not a missing feature — in a game where progress is the trail of words you tried, showing the guesses would hand the whole solution to whoever is behind.
What you get instead is the interesting half: watching someone jump from rank 4,000 to rank 12 and knowing they have just worked out what area the word lives in, without knowing how. If you would rather everyone play the same word at the same time with no host, the daily puzzle is the same word worldwide and feeds the public leaderboard.

How do I play Contexto with friends?
Create a room on this page and you will get a six-digit code. Share that code with your friends, they enter it to join, and as the host you pick the secret word everyone is guessing. No account or download is needed by anyone.
How many people can play in one Contexto room?
Up to 20 players per room. Everyone guesses against the same secret word, and the room leaderboard ranks players by how close they have got and how many guesses it took.
Is Contexto multiplayer free?
Yes, completely. Rooms are free to create and free to join, there is no player cap beyond the 20-person room limit, and nobody involved needs an account.
Can I see my friends' guesses?
No — and that is deliberate. You can see how close each player has got and how many guesses they have made, but not the words themselves. Showing the guesses would hand everyone else the semantic trail you worked out, which is the whole game.
How long does a room last?
Rooms are cleaned up 24 hours after they are created, so a code is good for a day. For a longer-running game, everyone can play the same daily puzzle instead and compare results on the public leaderboard.
Do we all need to be online at the same time?
No. The room stays open for its 24 hours, so players can join and guess whenever they like during that window and the leaderboard fills in as they go.
No one around to play with?
Today's puzzle is the same word for every player in the world, and the leaderboard ranks everyone who solved it.
